Sport

OutWest are huge supporters of the LGBT sports teams that play in our catchment area. We are happy to work alongside any sports team, no matter what type of sport you happen to play.

Football, has of course, always been the most popular of all sports. Because professional football still has the reputation of being predominantly homophobic, OutWest feels that this is one area in particular we need to show our support. We have in the past supported both the London Falcons and the London Titans. Formed in 2005, the Titans are a gay-friendly football club based in London who play regularly at either Old Deer Park in Richmond or at Hampton and Richmond Borough Football Club. They always welcome new members regardless of their age, sexuality or ability. The Titans have played in tournaments held in the USA, Iceland, Argentina and Prague. They also travel the length and breadth of the UK competing in the GFSN League. The London Titans were the 2010/2011 GFSN National League Champions and successfully defended their title in the 2011/2012 season.

If competitive football isn’t your thing, then they regularly hold friendly training sessions with their three FA-qualified coaches.  With over 50 members and growing, they’re one of the biggest and friendliest LGB teams in the country.

The Titans have strong links with LGBT organisations across London and the UK helping eradicate homophobia from football, something that OutWest is very pleased to work with the Titans on.

If, however, you are a member of some other sport that supports the LGBT community, we’d be pleased to hear from you, to help spread the word about your team.
