Governance

OutWest is a wholly democratic organisation. Our 350 members are represented by up to 9 trustees, with 4 trustees in effect holding  "executive" positions and are tasked with the day to day running of the  organisation and if required, taking ad hoc decisions in case of  emergencies. This said, OutWest is bound by its constitution which has been agreed upon by members and can be updated and amended each year at the Annual General Meeting. A working group traditionally forms each autumn to review our constitution and propose amendments if needed to the AGM each November. Our constitution and other documentation can be found on our documentation page.

“Executive” Trustees

The four trustees in these positions are the Chair and Vice Chair, the Treasurer and the Secretary. The four are normally in daily contact, represent OutWest and the LGBT Community of West London at other groups and organisations and carry out the administrative work that is required to ensure the smooth running of the charity.

Trustees

The remaining trustees support the executive trustees in the running of the charity, and some trustees take specialist areas to provide support to our members and to advance the charity. Like the executive trustees, they also represent OutWest and the LGBT Community of West London at conventions, conferences and other meetings.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting normally takes place in November. At the meeting, the following is discussed:

  • Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting
  • Trustees Report on the year
  • Election of Executive and General Trustees
  • Constitutional Changes (if required)
  • Any Other Business
